For the 1999 competition the rules and conditions were modified in closed discussion with the participants. The major changes were made to set new categories and to formally draw a judging committee from the vote of the entrants. Although the contest offered cash prizes in 1998, this offer was withdrawn this year, with the artists entering more for the prestige of winning or being seen in this prestigious online event. 1999 Winners | Realism | Modern | Mixed | Digital 1998 Contemporary Art Competition Online for voting between 1st November - 31st December 1998. The first time an art contest of this magnitude, including entries from all over the world and offering substantial prizes, had been staged on the Internet for online voting. The competition was open contemporary art... or an impression of Contemporary Art today. Translated, that could mean an impression of what art is today, or it could mean an example of where the artist's art is today... both qualified. The prizes were awarded in Open International and Australian with the choice of medium unrestricted. A condition of entry is that the artworks are created within the last 12 months and still in the artist's possession. The voting was open to the public with the decisions derived from both the public vote and the entrants.
