"Life on a screen"  -  1998 International Art Contest - Australian Winner

David McBurney

"Life on a screen"... The quote is from Shakespeare, "Did heaven look on and would not take its part." It comes from a scene in Macbeth where Macduff, betrayed by his own King, comes home to find his entire family dead; his baby speared through the head. 'Life on a screen' is about growing up in a generation which has been raised by the same television, and how more and more of our waking lives are spent in front of a screen... whether learning, working, socialising, or relaxing by checking out art competitions on the Internet."
